Dr. Nicole Loreto, MSc, PhD, APR

Dr. Nicole Loreto is a seasoned marketing and communications strategist and recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal’s Forty under 40 Award. Nicole has held several executive positions in a variety of fields including high tech, wind energy, government, museums and healthcare. Her career spans more than 30 years, helping clients in the private and public sectors reach business and organizational goals through effective positioning and branding. Nicole has led external and internal communications in several merger and acquisitions in Canada, US & the UK for EDS, the former leader in information technology acquired by HP. She is well known for generating awareness about wind energy among the federal and provincial governments and media across the country. Nicole has also created educational curriculum for Canadian Geographic and launched the successful Wind Energy magazine.
Nicole is credited with positioning The Royal as a premier mental health care and research hospital in Canada conducting game changing research that will transform how depression and other mental illnesses can be treated. Her campaigns have not only raised awareness of mental health but helped fuel government funding and philantrophy for The Royal. Nicole has also designed two wellness apps and created the Is It Just Me? program providing educational literacy to more than 50,000 students in the region. Nicole is well known for her creativity, media skills and innovative campaigns that have earned her several national awards during the past three decades.
Nicole’s love of sport prompted her to promot Canadian athletic excellence and team spirit at several summer and winter Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and Jeux de la Francophonie, in roles involving media relations, media guest coordination and event management.
She is also co-founder of an award-winning advertising and design agency recognized for innovative marketing and communication strategies for high tech clients, museums and non-profit organizations. Nicole is a Board member with the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport and sits on other local community volunteer boards.
Nicole holds a PhD in psychology from Walden University, a Master’s of Science in Communications and Management from Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Social Work from Laurentian University. Nicole is a lecturer with the University of Ottawa and an Accredited Public Relations Executive in Canada.
